“Guavaberry” Traditional Liquor

Guavaberry the Traditional Liquor

From the small guavaberry fruit comes the legendary folk liqueur of St. Martin. “Guavaberry rum” was first made here (and in the Virgin Islands) a long time ago inside private homes and traditionally shared around Christmas.

Guavaberry rum or wine (only the terminology differs) is made from fine aged rum, cane sugar and ripe handpicked guavaberries found in the warm hills of the Pic Paradis, Colombier and St. Louis areas at the heart of the island.

Traditionally made and aged for months before the end of the year festivities, guavaberry liqueur has a woody, fruity, spicy and bitter-sweet flavour all of its own. There is no Christmas on St. Martin without trying some local guavaberry rum!
