Trip Planning FAQs
Most visitors from the U.S., Canada, and Europe do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. Always double-check based on your nationality and entry point (Dutch or French side).
Both are amazing!
French Side 🇫🇷 (Saint-Martin): boutique hotels, quiet beaches, food & culture
Dutch Side 🇳🇱 (Sint Maarten): nightlife, shopping, casinos, cruise port
You can explore both easily — the border is open!
Not required — but highly recommended!
Renting a car gives you the freedom to explore hidden beaches, different towns, and viewpoints. Taxis are available but can be pricey.
Dutch Side: U.S. Dollars + Caribbean Guilder (USD preferred).
French Side: Euros (€) & U.S Dollars.
Almost all businesses accept major cards (Visa, MasterCard). Bring some cash just in case.
It depends on where you're staying:
On the Dutch side (Sint Maarten), power is 120V / 60Hz, and the plugs are Type A/B — the same as in the U.S. and Canada.
On the French side (Saint-Martin), it’s typically 220V / 60Hz, with Type C/E plugs — like in Europe.
🔌 Bringing a universal travel adapter is recommended if you’re unsure or plan to explore both sides.
The most popular time to visit St. Maarten is between December and May during the dry season — expect warm, sunny days and lively island energy.
🌴 June to November is hurricane season, but it's also less crowded and more affordable, especially for flights and stays.
