How many French “Collectivities” are there?

There are currently five overseas collectivities. These territories have very diverse statuses and internal organization, some of which are specified by the organic law of February 21, 2007. This is the case for French St. Martin.

Prior to 2007, St. Martin was considered a commune integrated under the COM of Guadeloupe.
