Sometimes You Just Can’t Win…

In September 2023, the Collectivity took urgent action to reinforce the banks of the pontoon to Pinel Islet. This jetty is frequently used by small ferry boats that transport visitors to and fro the island of Pinel on a daily basis.

The work consisted of laying rockfill to consolidate the ground by compacting aggregates and sand. Ironically, the precarious lack of sand on site was caused just a few weeks earlier, when heavy construction machinery was used to rid the area of harmful amounts of Sargassum algae that had collected there.
