Who Is Our Patron Saint?
Saint Martin of Tours, also known as Martin the Merciful, was born under the Roman Empire in the region of Sabaria (current Hungary) in 316 and died in Candes, in Gaul, in 397.
Martin of Tours is one of the principal saints of Christianity and, along with Gregory of Tours, one of the most famous bishops of Tours.
Devotion to Saint Martin is manifested through a relic, Martin’s cloak or cope which he is said to have shared with an impoverished person who was freezing cold.
