Speed 2’s Grand Finale Sets Record!
The colossal final scene required building an entire fake town as a set and then mounting a life size 150-foot (46 m) long replica of the Seabourne Legend’s bow on underwater rails powered by four 15,000HP diesel engines and ramming it through the set one bit of destruction at a time.
Every shot was the first and final take as it was too expensive to rebuild.
This impressive five-minute scene cost one quarter of the film’s entire budget and set records as both the largest and the most expensive stunt ever filmed!
