The Historic Pasanggrahan Hotel
Frontstreet 19 is the location of the historic Pasanggrahan Royal Guesthouse, the oldest continuously operating hotel on St. Maarten. Originally built in 1904 as a governor’s residence, the Pasanggrahan has hosted numerous dignitaries and visitors over the years. The building exemplifies the island’s colonial architecture, with its wooden structure, expansive verandas, and beautifully maintained gardens. The name “Pasanggrahan” is derived from an Indonesian word meaning “guesthouse,” reflecting the colonial history of the Dutch East Indies. Today, the Pasanggrahan remains a cherished landmark, offering a blend of historical charm and modern hospitality in the heart of Philipsburg.
