Ebenezer Plantation: Historic Ruins Amid Modern Housing

Ebenezer Plantation: Historic Ruins

The Ebenezer Plantation, located in the Dutch Cul-de-Sac area, is a historic site where the ruins of a former sugar plantation can still be found. Once a thriving estate, Ebenezer played a crucial role in St. Maarten’s sugar industry during the 18th and 19th centuries.

However, like many other plantations, it fell into decline after the abolition of slavery and the collapse of the sugar market.

Today, the site is surrounded by modern housing developments, but the ruins of the plantation house and outbuildings remain, offering a stark contrast between the island’s past and present.
