Cemetery Unearthed in St. James

In total, four coffin burials could be observed. Oriented east-west with the head end to the west, and a reduction in the pit of one of the burials. A ceramic plate, probably late 19th-early 20th century was found, spilled on the pubis of another individual. Except for this last fact, which is quite exceptional in the French West Indies, these are Christian funeral rites. These remains indicate the presence of a small cemetery probably still active at the beginning of the 20th century.
