In 1913, a French journalist happened to boast the grand lifestyle and bachelorhood of D.C Van Romondt on this isolated Caribbean island, calling him “The King of Tintamarre” in a Parisian newspaper. The fortunate news soon spread among potential ladies all over Europe, and D.C received courting letters all the way from France, Italy and Germany!

But nevermind for D.C was not interested, instead he remained single until his passing in 1948.

…At least that is the official story.

Unofficially, he was already entirely devoted to “Miss Josie” his long-time partner from St. Kitts, with whom he lived the rest of his days in his Mary’s Fancy Estate.
